5-Day Rhino and Kidepo Adventure

It has been called the undiscovered jewel of African wilderness and natural beauty. The Kidepo Valley National Park in northeastern Uganda is a true wilderness where you will find yourself at one with nature. For the stargazers, there is probably no better place to spend you night with clear dark night skies. The park has a wide variety of game including lions, leopards, and even the cheetahs. There are also huge herds of elephants, and the world’s largest herd of cape buffalo.

What's Included

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Gulu with Rhino tracking stopover

Today our safari guide will pick you very early from your accommodation for the drive to northern Uganda. On your way, you will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you get to walk with these horned friends. After rhino tracking, continue to Gulu City. You will cross the Nile River at Karuma with the spectacular Karuma Falls.

Day 2: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, start your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. The park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys and wilderness of northeastern Uganda. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park – a true wilderness.

Day 3: A Walk and Drive into the Wilderness

Awaken to the harmonious sounds of nature, enveloped in the untouched wilderness of the park. The sheer remoteness ensures an authentic African morning soundtrack. Begin your day with a captivating sunrise game drive, exploring the captivating landscapes in and around Apoka Valley. Upon your return to the lodge, indulge in a delightful breakfast before embarking on a mid-morning game adventure leading to the Kanangorok hot spring. This area is a haven for the renowned Big Five, with Ostriches gracefully roaming the semi-arid terrain. Marvel at the stunning scenery of savannah grasslands and distant mountains, stretching across the South Sudan border. Retreat to the lodge for a sumptuous lunch, followed by a leisurely afternoon, basking in the anticipation of the sunset. As evening descends, consider a guided walk with an armed ranger in the vicinity of your accommodation.

Day 4: Meet the locals in the Manyattas of Karamoja

Following breakfast, you’ll venture into the captivating and ancient culture of the Karamojong. Explore the traditional homesteads (manyattas) of the Karamojong, listen in on the folklore, and dance with the elders. Engage with and get insights into the lives of these cattle-keeping people. Later transfer to Gulu City to the west of the park, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe Airport for home

All good things come to an end. Depending on your departure time you can use your free time to tour or shop in Kampala or Entebbe. Later proceed to the airport for your homeward journey. Thank you for choosing to travel with us.
