5-Day Rhinos and Kidepo Safari

It has been called the undiscovered jewel of African wilderness and natural beauty. The Kidepo Valley National Park in northeastern Uganda is a true wilderness where you will find yourself at one with nature. For the stargazers, there is probably no better place to spend you night with clear dark night skies. The park has a wide variety of game including lions, leopards, and even the cheetahs. There are also huge herds of elephants, and the world’s largest herd of cape buffalo.

What's Included

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Gulu with Rhino tracking stopover

Today our safari guide will pick you very early from your accommodation for the drive to northern Uganda. On your way, you will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you get to walk with these horned friends. After rhino tracking, continue to Gulu City. You will cross the Nile River at Karuma with the spectacular Karuma Falls.

Day 2: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early breakfast, start your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. The park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys and wilderness of northeastern Uganda. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park – a true wilderness.

Day 3: A Walk and Drive into the Wilderness

Set out on a game drive to meet park residents like the lions, huge buffalo herds, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and if it is your day the shy leopards and cheetahs. The park also boasts of birds like ostrich, and kori bustard. If lucky, you may even find the resident lion kings and queens on the Lion Rock looking out over the savannah. You will be probably the only humans for miles around as far as the eyes can see.

In the afternoon, dance to the beat of Karimojong drums. The Karamojong are much like the Masaai in lifestyle, dress, culture and stature.

Day 4: Transfer to Kampala

Today is the last day of our adventure. Set off early after breakfast hit the road to Kampala. Enjoy your morning travel and the mini game drive as you drive out of one of Africa’s wildest national park. Leave only footprints from your safari walk, but take all those precious forever memories.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe Airport for home

All good things come to an end. Depending on your departure time you can use your free time to tour or shop in Kampala or Entebbe. Later proceed to the airport for your homeward journey. Thank you for choosing to travel with us.
